Possibly. There are a lot of medical reasons why you might be having these symptoms. Therefore, we always encourage you to speak with a doctor about your symptoms or get help in the case of an emergency. However, if your doctor says you are fine physically, your symptoms might be a sign of anxiety. Your doctor may have even suggested that it is anxiety. Because our bodies and minds are connected, anxiety can show up as physical symptoms.
In many ways therapy will be unique to you. However, there are a few common things you can expect in therapy.
First, during the first one or more sessions, your therapist will ask you questions to better understand your needs, strengths, and goals. This process is called the assessment. Your therapist may talk with you about your diagnosis and the treatments that can help. Note: many therapists are not able to prescribe medication.
Then, you and your therapist will work together to decide on goals and work with you to develop a plan for how to reach them. This part is often called treatment planning. Your therapist may use a combination of conversation, exercises, skills, and homework during your work together.
Finally, as you start to improve, and you’ve learned how to manage your anxiety, you and your therapist will come up with a plan to maintain your progress after therapy ends. This part is often called discharge planning, graduation, or termination.
Anxiety shows up differently for different people. Some anxiety is specific such as social anxiety or phobias. Whereas other anxiety is more general. This is often called “generalized anxiety disorder” or GAD. For others, anxiety shows up mostly physically. Sometimes people experience anxiety attacks or panic attacks which they might describe as feeling like they are having a heart attack.

Being in a state of constant anxiety is exhausting. Anxiety activates our body's "danger response" system by sending hormones and chemicals throughout our body to prepare us for quick action. This danger response system is great when there is actual danger, but isn't great when we are trying to relax.
Think about a situation with actual danger. Your body goes into alert mode. You are ready to react to whatever danger there is. Afterwards, you get to relax and calm down. You might even be tired and take a nap. Anxiety is like having this response on continuously without actual danger and no sense of calm or relaxation after. Over time your body becomes exhausted and you feel tired.
